GOT ZULU! opens with a powerful scene in the Johannesburg gold mines, where the economic importance of mining in South Africa is explored through the rhythmic GUMBOOT DANCE and music. Its powerful rhythm is further inter-married with the ensuing TAP/GUMBOOTS COLLABORATION, TAP SOLO, and MOTSWAKO (Batswana traditional singing)Collaboration. This is followed by TOWNSHIP EXPRESS, which celebrates the lively spirit of the townships through classic SOUTH AFRICAN CHORAL SINGING, RAP, BEAT-BOX, B-BOYING and PANTSULA DANCE. Sketches of everyday debates about South African politics and history are performed by a wonderfully talented cast that takes the audience on a journey to the central core of South African LIFE, SUCCESS and STRUGGLE. With more beautiful singing and 'thunderous drumming'... as ROLLING STONE MAGAZINE remarked; Got Zulu! takes the audience to the heartland of South African tradition, with a Zulu dance, which is a celebration of South Africa's HERITAGE.
